Its all about perspective
I like to ask questions so I can better understand a situation or a person.
I've talked before how perspective matters and how our experiences shape our perspectives.
This is one of the main reasons we all look at The Job differently.
We treat people differently.
We act differently.
Even why we become different as we get older.
It crazy to think but there's a good chance that if you put someone else's "shoes" on, that your life would be pretty close to theirs.
Hence why I try to give the necessary experience needed to get others to understand.
This can be in hands on training or when developing people.
Try understanding more and less jumping to conclusions.

My probie has mentioned that he wants to regularly dry stretch. What!?! I think we just became best friends. I explained to him that thats my go to daily drill of choice. Now only does it give the firefighter practice but also the engineer. The engineer has to spot the apparatus and we usually discuss tactics after the stretch. We go over different options and discuss possible variables. The point is to get out and do it. Familiarize yourself with your first due and keep your crew engaged....
